AUTO BROKERAGE SERVICES
At GOGEARHEAD.COM we have a proven track record assisting buyers and sellers of unique, classic and vintage collectible automobiles and rare memorabilia. We offer full brokerage services that let the seller have the flexibility to have your vehicle on site with us or list the car with us and keep it at your location. We can also act as a central agent or the client may prefer an "open" listing that still allows you the option to sell your vehicle. Either way, our success rate speaks for itself. We will be happy to provide you with extensive references should you need them.

GOGEARHEAD.COM provides the industry's most comprehensive condition reports and knowledgeable, professional consultation to every client. Each report includes detailed checks of the body, paint, chrome, signs of accident damage, rust or bondo. We check the engine, suspension and test-drive the car. We photograph the underbody, check the instrumentation, tires, wheels and interior. In short, we do just about everything possible without actually taking the car apart!

What We Do
GOGEARHEAD.COM is a division of Stratatomic LLC. For over a decade GOGEARHEAD.COM has been providing services to help people buy all types of cars (especially Classic, Exotic and Specialty cars) long distance. GOGEARHEAD.COM makes on-site, detailed pre-purchase inspections on any vehicle, anywhere in the USA or Canada. We can help you with negotiations, creating purchase agreements, handling the financial transaction securely, making transportation arrangements and, if required, the vehicle exportation.

Our Process
We only need the name, address, and phone number of the seller, the Make and Model of car, and the VIN or chassis number (if you have it), along with your credit card details. We contact the seller to let him know that you have retained our services and that our nearest inspector will be calling him shortly to arrange a convenient time to inspect the car. Once the inspection is underway, we charge your card the agreed amount. When the completed report is ready, we send you an e-mail to let you know and then you can view it on our web site. We also provide a phone number for you to call us if you have any questions. That's it! - The whole thing is usually accomplished in 72 hours. Our detailed reports cover an extensive amount of information, digital photos, optional written appraisals and VIN checks can be made available at your request.

Why us?
Simply, because our mission is to provide you with a premium service. We are enthusiasts ourselves, and we pride ourselves on our knowledge of the classic automobile industry. We take our time and do each inspection thoroughly. Our feeling has always been that if you don't get all the information you need from an inspection, you may as well have not bothered at all, because one key thing that gets missed could end up costing you hundreds or even thousands of dollars. You need to know all the cars faults BEFORE you buy it not when it rolls off the delivery truck into your driveway.

What does your inspection cover?
Everything it is possible to check at the seller's house without the use of tools. Plus we can add 'special questions' so we cover problem areas or weak spots that may be peculiar to your type of vehicle. Like the wood frame on a Morgan or early MG for example.  We recommend you ask the seller if he can arrange the use of a lift for an inspection, or at the very least have him get some ramps set up in his driveway. We do not mind getting dirty!

Will you perform a compression test?
Due to liability issues it is just not possible for us to perform any test that requires the removal of any parts from the car with the use of tools. We do, however, check and report oil pressure at startup and on the road, on cars fitted with an oil pressure gauge. We can check for 'blow-by' and cross contamination of fluids by removing the oil filler cap, radiator cap and dipstick. If there are internal issues with the engine they will likely be evident here if not on the test-drive. On occasion we have had clients arrange with the seller to have the car inspected at a local garage or muffler shop. If the seller agrees to it, they can have a mechanic perform a compression test and our inspector can witness it for you and record the results as part of our report.

Do you offer an assessment of the cars value?
We will gladly tell you what the current market value of cars in similar condition is, based on available resources, but this is only our opinion (albeit somewhat educated) and not, in any way, a recommendation to purchase. A written appraisal is available for an additional fee.

Are you insured or bonded?
No, an inspection is NOT A GUARANTEE. It is merely another tool for you to use in the purchasing process. When used in conjunction with pre- and post- interviews of the seller, you should be able to garner enough information to decide whether or not you are doing the right thing.  Our service offers you the ability to have someone with your best interest in mind, look at a car for you, and simply report what they see. The final decision as to whether this particular vehicle is worth what the seller is asking for it, rests firmly with you.

Will I be able to talk to the inspector after he has looked at the car?
Usually, you will find answers to all your questions in the report. If there are a couple of things you would like clarified or further details on, we will ask the inspector for you and will get back to you with the answers. For logistical reasons, our inspectors are not on-call to answer questions as they come up.

What is your refund policy?
Although we 'run' your credit card and put a 'hold' for the agreed amount, you will not actually be charged until the inspector arrives to perform the inspection. From that point on, there are no refunds.

What happens if your inspector is unable to test-drive the car?
We will ask the seller to drive and observe as a passenger, if he will not allow us to do that, then clearly there is nothing more we can do. Of course we will let you know that we were unable to perform that part of the inspection and you'll have to take that into consideration when you decide whether or not to purchase that particular vehicle. On occasion, honest sellers who were unwilling to let a car be driven (because of a legitimate reason, like snow or salt on the roads etc), can later be coaxed into offering a short warranty on the drive train if the buyer makes it a condition to close the deal.

If I decide to purchase the vehicle, can you arrange transportation?
Yes, GOGEARHEAD.COM can help you negotiate the best price, ensure all the paperwork is in order, handle the safe financial transaction and make transportation arrangements to have the vehicle delivered to your door.

1. AUTOMOBILE LOCATION SERVICES
GOGEARHEAD.COM will search nationwide to locate the classic or collectible car you desire. From everyday to exotic, muscle to micro cars, projects to prototypes, our research department has been finding all kinds of cars for more than a decade! Using our extensive industry connections, we hunt coast-to-coast (and even overseas) to find suitable examples of vehicles that closely match your specifications. We then forward these prospects to you and if an example is of interest, we will solicit further information and photographs from the seller and if necessary set up an inspection on the vehicle on your behalf. We will continue to do this until we find the vehicle you wish to purchase!

We do not accept every assignment. You must be serious about your purchase, have a feasible budget and naturally, be in a position to consummate the deal once we have found the car you desire. Our 'locate contracts' run 90 days and our fees are based on the advertised price of the car. Upon conclusion of the contract period, a non-refundable fee of $500.00 will be due irrespective of whether you purchase a car or not, however if a suitable vehicle has been purchased by you during this time, this amount is deducted from your total fee.

2. INSPECTION SERVICES
If you are the type of individual who appreciates what is involved in tracking down the right car, you will be rewarded, not only by the car you desire, but an example of the Marque you can truly be proud of, and probably at a price you would have never thought possible!.

ANYWHERE - Our inspection service is available throughout the entire continental United States and most of Canada!

FREE - Professional consultation before and after you receive your completed report!

3. NEGOTIATING SERVICES
GOGEARHEAD.COM will act as your exclusive agent keeping your identity private. This benefits you in several ways:

It allows someone who is not "emotionally attached" to the purchase, to ensure you get the very best deal possible on your dream car.

As your identity is kept secret, it effectively allows us to get "two bites at the apple" and gives us a greater ability to establish the seller is being truthful in his representation of the car.

It places you in the strongest negotiating position possible. Think about how hard it is for a seller to negotiate with a buyer over the telephone where he is unable to read body language or facial expressions? Now consider how that situation is compounded for the seller when the person he's forced to negotiate with isn't even the one who wants the car! It really does put him at a distinct disadvantage and allows you to negotiate from a position of strength.

Having an objective third party to give you the occasional "reality slap" really helps keep you grounded and focused on what exactly it is you are getting yourself into.

If you are overseas, it allows us to offer you a "degree of protection" by making the seller complete the transaction within U.S. borders, thus governing them to American laws. Also, thanks to the various internet scams (many of which emanate from outside the US), many dealers and private sellers won't even entertain offers from buyers outside the country. So our involvement may mean the difference between the seller even considering you as a prospective buyer for his car or not.

4. PURCHASING
If you have already located a vehicle on your own, had it inspected and have decided to proceed with the purchase, GOGEARHEAD.COM can handle things for you from here on out! Depending on which services you need, our fees would be as follows:

NEGOTIATIONS

5. TRANSPORTATION & SHIPPING YOUR CLASSIC AUTO
We can assist in worldwide shipping for a purchased classic automobile.

GOGEARHEAD.COM will gladly arrange to have the vehicle you've purchased collected from the seller, carefully loaded onto either a 'covered' or an 'open' transporter and carried to your door, or the nearest port for shipping to the destination of your choice.

Note: Not all transportation companies are created equal! One thing is certain; it isn't all about price. Different transport companies offer different services and all have their uses. It comes down to the type of car you are moving, where you want it moved to and how quickly you want it done. We frequently spend several hours on the phone finding just the right service for a customer's car and of course we know from experience which transportation companies to avoid.
